PHIGOV UNIT of the
CENTER FOR PHILOSOPHY OF LAW

The Centre for Philosophy of Law is an extra-faculty pluridisciplinary research entity of the Université catholique de Louvain (Belgium) whose central objective is to develop a democratic governance theory adapted to contemporary society. Its research unit PHIGOV (philosophy and governance), directed by Professor Marc Maesschalck, has signed a cooperation agreement with ACECI, aiming at a close cooperation between academic research and international civil society action, through exchanges on conceptual definitions, governance framework analyses, and ethical evaluation of cooperation practises.

The common interests of the PHIGOV unit and ACECI are situated in the broader framework of action-research on cooperation ethics. Their aim is to develop a conceptual definition of this specific ethics domain, considering its dimensions of collective action, governance and social learning, while remaining concerned about the best possible operational intelligence of the concept, related to field practises.
The cooperation agreement will allow to define, in view of the evolution of each of the parties, more specific common interests and concerted priorities.

Professor Maesschalck has accepted to support the creation and the launching of ACECI's scientific council.
