MDGs - Impact of Financial Crisis on
Developing countries
This EU paper focuses on
the challenges posed by the effects of the recent food, energy and financial crises on
developing countries, global governance and development policy. It identifies, from the point of view of the EU, the most
pressing needs to be met in order to accelerate progress on the MDGs in the lead up to the
2010 Review summit and by 2015. It also looks at more structural issues where sustainable
development, climate change and the ‘missing dimensions’ of the MDGs are discussed (April 2009).
