Amel MAAOUIA
Holder of a licence in international journalism, (Institut
de Presses et des Sciences de l’Information, IPSI,
Tunis, 2002), and of a masters' degree in public communication
(DIC, Laval University, 2004), she's finalising a masters'
degree in international development, and pursues a Ph.D.
in International Relations at the "Institut Québécois
des Hautes Études Internationales" (IQHEI,
Laval University ). Her thesis focuses on discourse
ethics in international development cooperation.
Amel Maaouia has been a teaching assistant at the information
and communication department of Laval University .
She is undertaking reserach in the following fields:
communication and international development, North-South
relations and development cooperation ethics, dynamics
of international media flows, media and social representations.
Myriam LAFLEUR
Graduate from the "Organisation du Baccalauréat
International en sciences pures" (2002), holder
of a bachelors' degree in Agriculture from Laval University
(2006), she's at present undertaking second cycle studies
on integrated rural development. She's also taking courses
on the history of Africa, on development sociology,
rural and agricultural development management and North-South
relations ethics.
As an intern in international cooperation with the NGO
Plan Nagua (2007) she has contributed to the implementation
of a socio-economic development project in the Nicaraguan
island of Zapatera. She did an internship on major crops
with the seed company Sémican and Laval University,
where she has developed a seminar on the influence of
crop management practises on the proportion between
naked and dressed seeds in oats (2006). She also took
an internship in milk production in Gimsøy, Norway
(2003). She wrote a report on scab prevention in orchards
(2005) and worked out an agroforestry project on degraded
soils in the village of Pu Lao in Cambodia (2004).
She's fluent in English and French, and presently is
taking some Spanish courses. She is particularly interested
in international cooperation and its consequences on
countries in the South, and in the implementation of
desirable change inside communities.

Caroline CHAUMONT
Holder of a bachelor's degree in psychology (2005),
she also detains a Minor Arts and Sciences, concentrating
on English and communication (2006), as well as a certificate
in communication from Laval University (2007). In the
winter of 2008 she will start an MBA in social and environmental
responsibilities of organisations. In 2007 she has participated
in an international intercultural internship in Peru,
where she had the opportunity to improve her Spanish
and to acquire knowledge on how organisations function
in Latin America. This year she has joined the student
delegation working as development agents inside commercial
missions of Laval University. This project will allow
her to collaborate closely with a Quebec company on
its international development, as its envoy to Brasil,
and to learn Portuguese.
Her fields of interest are essentially
social and environmental responsibility, international
business ethics, communication, foreign cultures and
languages.
