ETHICS AND BIODIVERSITY

The Convention on biological diversity (CBD) is an international treaty adopted at the Rio de Janeiro "Earth Summit" in 1992, which entered into force on 29 December 1993. It has 3 main objectives: to conserve biological diversity, to use biological diversity in a sustainable fashion and to share the benefits of biological diversity fairly and equitably.

The United Nations declared 2010 to be the International Year of Biodiversity. The world is invited to take further action to safeguard the variety of life on earth, as the CBD is not always respected.
