Under the auspices of the "Institut de l’énergie et
de l’environnement de la Francophonie (IEPF)", ACECI's
launching colloquium has taken place in Quebec on 29 and 30
October 2007. It was the first sizable event organised by
the young organisation, born at the beginning of that same
year.

The colloquium theme was very close to ACECI's mission:
Cooperation
ethics and responsibility towards human societies
The colloquium has allowed participants to exchange amongst
others on different critical analyses of the notion of development,
on the risks involved in good intentions that are not rooted
in a genuinely participatory approach, on the role of civil
societies in North and South.
The summary of the colloquium has been prepared
by Florence Piron, deputy professor at the information and
communication department of Laval University, Quebec. The
condensed
report of the colloquium can be downloaded here
(in French).
The contributions to the colloquium will be
published as soon as they are made available by their respective
authors. .

Some comments from the public in the evaluation
forms:
«I have appreciated the interdisciplinary dimension
of the colloquium. The views on ethics from different disciplines
enormously enrich the debate and do justice to the complexity
of the issues analysed during the colloquium»
«Ms Rondeau's contribution gave a fair picture of the
common knowledge on current cooperation ethics thinking. This
approach is to be favored for a launching colloquium: before
digging into the subject, one tries to define the context,
or the "skating rink" on which one is moving».
