WHO DOES ACECI ADDRESS?

In international business ethics, the focus has, in the course of the last decade, gradually shifted from corruption of national leaders in the South towards an analysis of the intervention modes of big companies in these countries, and attention for the cultural diversity in the territories where they operate has been growing.

But still too often, views and working methods are being imposed that do not take well enough into account cooperation ethics (recognition, social responsibility, beneficence, sovereignty, etc.), living conditions, traditions, and the local people's values. The tendency remains to fix norms derived from the North, fruits of a different experience. In such cases, the ethical approach is not based on a shared reflexion and a common search for adequate conduct. Hence it can not bring the expected boons and contribute to efficient cooperation.

That is why ACECI targets amongst others:

  • governments from both North and South

• international organisations

• civil society organisations

• charities

• private companies from the North, doing business with the South

• private and public companies in the South
