|
|
This project is being launched, based on the following facts :
-
The difficulties of many actors in the field of greenhouse gasses reduction in the South to put to value their potential carbon credits, to register them and to to auction them on a lucrative market. A recent study has shown an African participation of only 3% in the presentation of projects on the carbon credits market. A very weak performance, kwoning it is the continent most prone to desertification and extremely vulnerable to climate change. According to several experts, the countries of the South lack expertise in this field.
-
At the 2nd edition of the grand diplomatic North-South conferences organised by ACECI in 2008 on Africa's tropical forests (Cameroon, Gabon, DRC) and natural resources, representatives of the South have expressed their needs of information and expertise related to the carbon credit markets.
- Difficulties for potential sellers and buyers of carbon credits to evaluate the quantities, the effect on carbon emmission reduction.
- Difficulties to evaluate the added value of those carbon credit exchanges on the living conditions of the people.
